Permaculture Tools Instructional DVD

Permaculture Tools is putting together an instructional DVD on the use of hand tools.

The project is simple:

We, Permaculture Tools, are going to be working with Metta Media for the production of an instructional video on the use of hand tools.

We will also be showing how to use, sharpen and repair your tools, as well as some simple blacksmithing to show you how simple it is to make your own tools.

Some of the tools we will be covering in the DVD include:

  • Rice Knife (serrated sickle)
  • Sickle
  • Long Handled Sickle
  • Shovel
  • Wheelbarrow
  • Hoe
  • Mattock
  • Machete
  • Hatchet
  • Axe
  • Bill Hook
  • Long Handled Bill Hook
  • Kama
  • Pruning Saw
  • Pruners/secateurs

We will be showing you some simple techniques that will make it easier and safer to use your hand tools with less effort, combined with techniques on how to sharpen and care for your hand tools, ensuring that they will also last a lot longer as well.

Permaculture Tools will be showing the demonstration on how to use the hand tools and Mett Media will be doing the professional video shooting and production.

  1. Sorry, but flailing about with two mismatched tools not suited to the job at hand really doesn’t make your case.

    1. Hi Steve I have used this technique for 15 years and have done 8 hours a day for 2 weeks straight on jobs before. I have also gone up against professional brush cutters and cut the same amount before. I have cut a very large amounts of grass in a day while still leaving the smalls trees in place which would have been cut by a machine.
      There is no mishmash here.
I have also taught this technique to may people who realise the value in it and how much ground you can cover while still leaving and protecting the trees.
The video is short and does not cover this.
But there is another one on permaculture tools YouTube page which you can look at.
