Orchard is usually fruit trees only, no companion plants or nitrogen fixers. Food forest is all layers including vines jammed in the one area. That's how I read it.

Awesome Pakanohida, an illustration I can read, woot! great diagram too. My idea of a food forest is one where each layer is beneficial to the other layers and they all seem to be crowded together, until you actually take a walk through the area. That is when you notice the layers are not so bunched up as to take away from each other, just like a walk in the woods, a walk in a food forest is one of discovery and wonder at what you will find tucked under that gorgeous shrub or close to that tree or wandering along the foot path your following. Great Job!
