I notice that the location for the PRI farm has changed. As a past student at Tyalgum, I am curious to know what has happened with the property and why the PRI chose to move.
    ???

I believe Tagari (the Tyalgum property) is up for sale - or may have already been sold. Bill Mollison moved back to Tasmania so you can imagine the complications of property management from a distance. The good thing is that you can see the development and growth of the new PRI permaculture site from start to finish!

Working the land is one thing, finishing up a dream is another. I also spent time at Tagari. An beautiful design in motion, waiting to be set into productivity. I guess there was too much politics to finish the dream. What a disappointment. I'm also a bit supprised to see John Jeavon's gardening book posted on your site. Isn't double digging a bit too labour intensive for you 'permaculture veterans'? I'm laughing out loud. How on earth did you get the PRI logo?

The move from Tagari Farm was made to increase our effect in education and demonstration while implementing a new site from the start. The location of Tagari Farm with 3.5K of dirt road access, which needed to be sealed to continue with the education on site was beyond Bill's expectations of costs, this was something we could not find any funding for. Luckily there are many properties in Australia and around the world being designed and developed as permaculture research institutes, and many have similar land based designs.

Double digging is only specific to the temperate to cold climates where intense high production in a very small area is needed. As permaculture designers we always work in climate and landscape first. We also often read many books just to mine out small amounts of specific information relative to permaculture design.

We hope to put up a much larger selection of books soon. We are swamped by the huge enquiry which comes in from around the world and takes priority.
