Abundance Mindset Reflected In The Greenspace

We really do have everything we need; when we are open to it.

Permaculture teaches us to understand ourselves and our environment and to harness what nature provides – in all her glory and to maximise the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of a combined labour of love and intention for abundance.

My garden reminds of this each time I step out into her green glory.

In spite of our semi-arid environment – our garden thrives. In spite of watering our garden with water that has a ph of 9 – our garden thrives. In spite of less than perfect tending and care, our garden thrives. In spite of my lack of attention to detail- our garden thrives!

WHY?

Why, when all the odd are stacked against us, does our garden thrive?

– Because we intend it to.
– Because we are open to the possibility that we have everything we ever needed and that there is ALWAYS enough.
– We embrace and abide the abundance mindset.
– We mitigate the boom and bust with smart planning – permaculture teaches us this. We also mitigate the boom and bust with our mindset.
– We believe there is always enough and so there is .
– When I have people coming for workshops, there is always enough food in the garden.
– When unexpected guests arrive, there is always enough to go around.

I think that if we invested and believe in scarcity, our garden would reflect this. It would be hard to grow things – all the ‘shouldn’t works’ would come to the fore and impact on our garden in a negative way.

But it doesn’t because the practice of permaculture relies as much on this thinking as it does on the understanding and implementation of the skillset. You can have all the knowledge in the world and still create boom and bust in your garden.

If you heal and evolve the mindset however, the thriving comes in all spaces.

So how do you heal and evolve a negative mindset that plays out in the landscape?

I have about 16 steps that I take, but the first three are the critical actions

1. Awareness – become aware that a negative mindset exists and is being reflected in the landscape and life you are living in is first step
2. Consciousness – taking note, becoming the omnipotent third observer in your life and being conscious of your thoughts and behaviours is the second step
3. Responsibility – owning everything that happens in your life, taking responsibility for the lot is not always easy, but imperative if we are to heal our negative mindset and to change our landscape.

You are what you eat – you are what you think. I completely believe that we attract in our life what we believe and when you believe there is enough, there always will be.

Permaculture provides us a wonderful framework to start to unpack this thinking in the context of the landscape.

You are enough. We are enough. There is always enough. These are my daily mantras and permaculture is my practice.
