Local Moonee Valley resident Jan was the first person to sign up to the My Smart Garden program back in December 2010 and has recently connected with another Smart Gardener Kornelija who signed up at the Mediterranean Fiesta.
When Jan signed up she selected the action Offer to be a Garden Buddy for Someone Less Able and let me know she’s got a large garden that’s
challenging her these days. Soon after, I met Kornelija who selected the same action however, Kornelija said she like to help someone less able.
Perfect! So, the partnership began. I understand Jan is managing to maintain her large productive garden thanks to Kornelija’s help.
What is My Smart Garden?
This exciting new program provides you with a series of actions to help you:
- Grow food
- Shelter your home from the sun and wind
- Create habitat for wildlife (such as birds and frogs)
- Improve outdoor water management and use
You select as many or as few actions as you’d like. You personally select from the Choose Your Own Garden Adventure checklist of over 80 different actions.
There are no timeframes and no experience is required!
You choose the pace of your adventure and monitor your own progress. When you’ve achieved your actions, simply get in contact with us to be rewarded!
