Using Radio to Spread Sustainable Agricultural Practices Across Africa

Due to the work of a Canadian based Farm Radio International, who’ve partnered with more than 300 radio stations in more than 39 countries, farmers in Africa are tuning in for best-practise tips in agricultural systems and health and are being encouraged to revisit their traditional techniques and to increase their self-reliance.

Broadcasts cover "Nutrition and health, Indigenous knowledge, Women in agriculture, Livestock, and includes a variety of formats (interview, drama, spots, etc.). Scripts also include tips for broadcasters on presenting the information and adapting it for their own listening audience."

  1. This is surely needed! GMO and industrialized agriculture is about to wipe out all our biodiversity evolved through thousands of years. This makes us extremely vulnerable and extremely dependable. Vulnerable because we loose the biodiversity to protect our crops from sickness and insects. Dependable on big agriculture, like enslaved debtors. Africans, don’t let your enslave again! Don’t listen to Bill Gates, who wants Africa to embrace industrial GM food: https://www.treehugger.com/files/2010/09/while-bill-gates-wants-africa-embrace-gm-food-italy-fines-farmer.php

    Stay free, through biodiversity!!!!

Read the new report from FAO:

Crop biodiversity: USE IT OR LOSE IT!

“The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has launched the Second Report on the State of the World’s Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture, the definitive healthcheck on the biodiversity of crops. Much has changed since FAO published its last report twelve years ago, including an acceleration of climate change, making the conservation and the utilization of genetic resources even more pressing.”
