Permaculture World News Update, 31 May 2010

  1. This is a great idea. Short summaries like this are far reaching in this busy world. It gives folk a chance to catch the news while they are on the run and follow up later on specific items.

  2. Wow great new podcast, sounds very pro. I would suggest that we don’t use the term ‘nitty gritty’ on this site as it is actually a quite racist term. Nitty Gritty was originally used to describe the last of the african slaves to get off the ships to the USA, could piss some people off by using it. Keep up the good work

  3. Great work Patrick! These short bursts are much appreciated. I couldn’t easily find any info on what Evan says about the phrase nitty gritty.. do you have a link Evan, its an interesting bit of history you’re referring to. If you are considering a name change, it’d be nice to have a name with deeper meaning or use. Even a name has a role in perma-culture ;)

  4. i would like to read these news entries but am unable to on my computer and do not use cell phones. Please also provide all Permaculture.org podcasts etc also as written text..not all of us can afford the technologiesof sound with our older servicable computers and cannot afford new stuff.

  5. Hi Jennifer – don’t worry, the podcasts are simply a summary of actual articles on the site – which, if you can comment here, you are well able to read without additional technology. Patrick is intending these podcasts to circulate electronically, so as to lead people back to the written articles here on this site. I hope this clarifies.
