Starts Feb 18, 2013 and runs for 68 day(s).
Our Autumn internship is focused on natural building and appropriate technology and will cover low-cost and low-energy building techniques which are suited to New Zealand's conditions, available materials and building regulations. The internship begins with a seven day workshop teaching the basics of natural building and appropriate technology. After that you will be paired with a mentor and working on projects in Kotare Village.
Please note that we are only accepting 8-10 interns and all applicants must have completed a Permaculture Design Course.
The Learning Experience
As Interns, you will be fully integrated into the daily workings of the Institute, which is focused on high quality seed production, Biointensive gardening and heritage animals. Within the village development, the practical application of the permaculture design elements is ongoing, from large scale earth works to the design and implementation of water systems and appropriate technology for autonomous houses.
This course will offer practical experience to support the design theory for a deeper understanding of the permaculture principles, students will work on real projects and are integrated into the daily runnings of the Institute and the community, and will work on a roster system for general duties during their stay.
