Permaculture Earthworks Course (The Permaculture Research Institute, Zaytuna Farm at The Channon, NSW, Australia)

Earthworks construction can be a rewarding investment in your property. Enhancing the aesthetic appeal, functionality and value of your landscape are all realistic potential outcomes. However it can be intimidating to order large machinery onto your property and getting it wrong can be discouraging and very expensive. This course will give you the knowledge and confidence to get your earthworks right, first time around.

In this course you will learn the theory and practice of Permaculture Earthworks - learning site design skills, surveying and directing earthmoving machines to establish dams, swales, terraces, access roads and more.

This is a five day course, running Monday through Friday.

Course Instructors

Geoff Lawton is an internationally-renowned permaculture educator, consultant and practitioner. He emigrated from England to Australia and later studied permaculture with Bill Mollison in Tasmania. He established the Permaculture Research Institute at Tagari Farm in New South Wales, Australia, a 147-acre farmstead previously developed by Mollison. PRI was eventually moved to Zaytuna Farm, in The Channon, where it continues today.

Since 1985, Geoff has designed and implemented permaculture projects in 30 countries for private individuals and groups, communities, governments, aid organizations, and multinational corporations. He has taught the Permaculture Design Certificate course and designed permaculture projects in 30 countries.

Nadia Lawton was born and raised in the Jordan Valley, in one of the lowest and driest places on earth. She completed her PDC with Geoff Lawton in Jordan and went on to complete a Permaculture Diploma in Education and Site Design. She regularly travels with her husband for aid project and permaculture consulting work, and assists in teaching permaculture design courses.

Pricing options

All prices are in Australian dollars. The fee for the course is $1100, including GST, meals and camping accommodation. A non-refundable $110 deposit is required at the time of the booking. The balance of $990 is due before the course start date. An early bird discount of 10% is available if the course fee is paid 42 days prior to the course start date.
